Use & Care

Plant bulb in a well-draining potting mix with the top third exposed above soil. Place in a warm location (65–75°F) with bright

indirect light. Water sparingly until growth appears

then keep soil lightly moist. Rotate pot regularly for straight stems. After flowering

cut back flower stalk but leave leaves to gather energy. Allow a dry rest period of 8–10 weeks to encourage reblooming.

Questions & Answers

How do I get my amaryllis to rebloom?

After blooms fade, cut the flower stalk and continue watering and fertilizing the leaves through spring/summer. In late summer, stop watering and move the pot to a cool, dark location (50–55°F) for 8–10 weeks. Then repot or refresh soil, resume watering, and bring back to light – new blooms should appear in 6–8 weeks.

Can I plant the bulb outdoors after it blooms?

Amaryllis are tropical and not frost-hardy. In USDA zones 9–11 they can be planted outdoors after the threat of frost; in cooler zones, keep as a container plant and bring indoors before frost.
