      Corsiaceae

Corsiaceae is a family of flowering plants that is native to Australia, New Zealand, and some Pacific islands. The family is known for its unique appearance, with its flowers resembling birds in flight. In fact, the common name for the family is the bird orchid family. Legend has it that the flowers are the transformed remains of beautiful birds that were turned to stone by an angry god. While this story is purely myth, it adds to the mystique and fascination surrounding Corsiaceae and its strikingly beautiful flowers.

      Short Description

Corsiaceae is a family of monocotyledonous flowering plants. The APG II system (2003) treats the family in the order Liliales, in the clade monocots. This is a slight change from the APG system, of 1998, which left the family unplaced as to order, but did assign it also to the monocots.
